Siefert Domination, To Much Even for the Grim Reaper

With record car count and near perfect day with temperatures in the low 60ʼs, the second annual Grim Reaper Enduro went off with out a hitch, fans saw some awesome racing.

What started out as your typical 4 Cylinder Enduro, cars were bunched up 4, 5 and 6 wide going through the day. Jared Seifert soon showed everyone that we was going to be the man to beat.

On lap three our first casualty went into the books when Dan Sanchez, a local demo driver favorite, decided to take a ride on his roof. Dan came into turn three and went low to be surprised by a tire on the track and went for a roll. Dan landed on his tires and when the track was stopped he said he was ok and wanted to continue. Dan lasted only one more lap when his car decided that it had a mind of its own and died and needed to be pushed off the track by the Grim Reaper.

The first 150 laps were side by side racing and took its toll on many cars. During the 15 minute break, the track crew came out to do a little watering on the high side of the track. The cars came back onto the track and were given a parade lap to show them were the water was put down. On lap 153 Matt Rowe was greeted by the Grim Reaper. Matt decided to take a ride on the high side and met the front stretch wall. Matt ended his day after running in the top three positions; he was thought to be one of the favorites to win the race.

Eddie Munster, last years Grim Reaper Champion, was on the pursuit to give Siefert a challenge for the lead when his car broke with mechanical problems. Tim Sheppard, 2008 Dirt Devil Champion, was hot after Siefert. Tim started 4 laps down after being penalized for smaller tires and ended in 5th place with 291 laps in the book. On lap 170 Josh Westenberger saw first hand what it was like to be in the hot seat, when his car went up in flames. Josh was ok and ended up in 27th place.

The top 10 cars were Jared Siefert, Carl Van Luven, Jessi Ness, Jerry Leary, Tim Sheppard, Jeff Behm, Steve Seehawer, Tony Everhard, Aaron Bilek, and Mike Loberger.

Tyler Lind took the best decorated theme car with his scary looking 97 with Tony Everhard coming in a close second.

The Speedzone staff would like to thank everyone who came out to the final day of racing. They saw some awesome racing and also were greeted by the Grim Reaper. The 2009 Race season is slated to begin Friday May 8th.
