On a night where die hard race fans braved the windy, chilly temperatures and threat of ran to watch night two of the Speedzone's season. Many new faces graced the stands, with the largest number of Scouts in uniform ever to attend Scout Night at the Zone. Street Stock Rookie Elly Wallace #16 provided t-shirts from her new sponsor B-104.7 for the T-Shirt Sling. She helped shoot the shirts up into the stands where Scouts snagged quit a few of them. Despite the weather, those that came out seen some great racing and had a lot of fun.
MILLER LITE GRAND NATIONALS
TJ Smith brought the field to the line in the Miller Lite Grand Nationals Feature event with Steve Doehling to his outside. It would be Tim Doehling coming from a second row starting spot to grab the lead on the back stretch of lap one. Larry and Kenny Richards would grab second and third respectively. Kenny Richards moved to second on a restart and went into a side by side battle with Tim Doehling. They would battle it out with Doehling holding the lead. Kenny Richards would drive to the inside of Doehling and grab the lead and then proceed to drive away from the field. Richards would pick up the win for the second week in a row with Tim Doehling second, Terry Van Roy third, Larry Richards fourth and Brian Henry fifth. Read more
TOTAL POWER SALES STREET STOCKS
If Shawn Haydon wanted to repeat his win last week he would have to work for it starting twelfth in the Total Power Sales Street Stock feature. Tim Reichenberger would lose a tire on a lap one incident leading to a restart. Jerry Winkler would grab the lead on a lap five restart and build a sizeable lead over Haydon, who had moved into second and Jeremy Schwoch. A lap thirteen caution would bring Schwoch and Haydon to the back bumper of Winkler. A flawless restart would keep Winkler out front and provide him with his first feature of the year. Andy Gross grabbed second with Jeremy Schwoch third and Haydon fifth.
SPEEDZONE MODIFIEDS
James Steffanus and Jamie Schmidt brought the Modifieds to the double green on Shore View Lanes Family night. Steffanus and Schmidt would lead a three car break away with Zach Drews before caution on lap 2 grouped the field together. Jamie Schmidt would break from the field on lap five and build a large lead over Brian Drexler and Scott Mullen before a lap ten caution flew. Schmidt would pull out almost a straight away lead on lap sixteen with Drexler, Mullen and Ben Brinkman battling for second. Schmidt would take the win with Drexler, Mullenand Brinkman in tow.
LYNN’S SERVICE CENTER DIRT DEVILS
It would be Dave Wilkens taking the early lead over Tim Sheppard in the Lynn’s Service Center feature event. Nick Everhard would collect the outside wall in corners three and four on lap seven slowing the field. The restart would see Wilkens again grabbing a lead until Sheppard took it away on lap 8. Sheppard would drive off to a commanding lead and pick up the win with Tony Everhard second, Tyler Lind third, and Cory Wagner fourth.
